Overview:
Paper mâché isn't just for the kindergarten classroom. It's a dynamic and adaptable media that can transform a personal narrative into a playful sculpture. Come join me as we explore accessible and basic techniques of paper mâché on the way to creating animals, rascals, and objects from your world or imagination. This workshop will include step-by-step instructions on the process as well as discussions on how to combine paper mâché with other media. You can expect to complete one or two sculptures during the workshop AND have a lot of fun!
Student Supply List:
Newspapers (2-3 weeks’ worth, advertising inserts not needed)
acrylic paint in a range of colors - this can be any acrylic paint (paint doesn’t need to be top quality)
waterproof apron
4-6 paint brushes - Detail size to 1” size (brushes don’t need to be top quality)
Container to hold water
2 rags or old washcloths
pint container with lid to use for the paper mâché paste
pencil
notebook for taking notes

heavy duty aluminum foil
masking tape- 3 rolls per student
acrylic ink
wooden dowels
