Tom Sarmo
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Tom shares Heck Studios in Lakewood with two fellow illustrators.
Tom’s been at it professionally for 30 years, and has work in a variety of collections, publications, and galleries. He’s done character design for the film industry, and has published children’s books and merchandise, record covers, and commercial illustration. Tom’s privately commissioned work is in collections across the United States and in Europe.
Tom is passionate about nearly all art, but most particularly the creative, illustrative type. He works in a variety of media, and his subject matter is fed by interests that include Romantic and Victorian Literature, 19th century and medieval subjects, and almost all types of music.
He’s dedicated to sharing knowledge in fun and informative workshops for students ages 16 to adult, and in addition to Art Makers Denver, Tom teaches at Foothills Art Center in Golden, Colorado.
