 Overview:

During this workshop, students will be encouraged to envision possibilities rather than focusing solely on the present. By drawing inspiration from both imagination and reality, participants will engage in a creative mixed media journey. The exploration will lead to discovering a harmonious blend between the elements.

The workshop will focus on mixed media drawing, painting and collage as a form of creative expression. Participants will respond to photo references and experiment with various materials to develop original and dynamic solutions. Expect to push boundaries by exaggerating, distorting and elongating to produce bold and emotive artwork. The session will include demonstrations, feedback, and personalized as well as group guidance.

This is a very technique driven workshop, so be prepared to participate in many exercises.

Goals:

The overall goal is to find a balance between representation, abstraction, and expressiveness, as well as between structure and serendipity, control and spontaneity, intentionality and instinct. Students will need to embrace the possibility of their mixed media artworks evolving unexpectedly and leading them to unanticipated destinations.

  • Students will walk away with many techniques

  • Exercises, that when practiced regularly, will help elevate your abilities and your art

  • You will produce a lot of art
